<< Mixing Dining Chairs. My favorite Looks. >>

If you've perused Pinterest lately, you've likely noticed lots of mixing dining chairs. From Midcentury Modern to Country French, this trend transcends style. There are so many ways to achieve this style. So, here are a few tips that should make it getting this style for you home a breeze.

Stick with only a couple different chair styles...

Keep colors/stains similar in tone...

The same basic shape keeps it cohesive...

Add cozy accessories...

Mix the chairs but keep them the same color...

The great thing with such an informal style is that you don't have to be a designer to create and enjoy it. Trust your instincts and when in doubt, Pinterest is your friend. ;-)

<< Happy New Year!! To Resolve or Not to Resolve... >>

Welcome to 2017!! Time for New Year's resolutions!! Right? No?

Ah Den Sing- Austin, TX: A New Years toast with my love

Ah Den Sing- Austin, TX: A New Years toast with my love

I've never really been into New Year's Resolutions. Like most people, they rarely seem to see the end of January. However, for the last couple of years, I've really felt like starting anew around this time of the year. I haven't made resolutions, but I have set goals and have set my mind on self improvement. Here are a few things I'm focusing on:

*Growing my design business: Taking on more clients and completing awesome projects is one of my top career-based goals. I particularly want to create fun spaces for the littlest design clients. (Check out this nursery design.)

* Blogging: Creating and sharing content with you guys will definitely be a priority this year. I want to get to know fellow design lovers and share with you more about myself and my design aesthetic.

*Family and friends: Life can get busy, but it should never be too busy for the ones we love. I want to reconnect with the ones I love and really cultivate those relationships. 2016 taught me that life is short. I want to live mine more meaningfully.

So, how do you feel about New Year's Resolutions? Share below, I'd love to hear.

<< New Years Eve Dinner Party >>

Ringing in the new year at a hole-in-the-wall bar or club honestly loses it's appeal after a few years. So, what can the sophisticated (I.E.- Getting too old for the club) people do to celebrate?

One option is a nice dinner party with close friends. You can eat some good food, pop the bubbly, and countdown with whoever Dick Clark's newest replacement is. (Ryan Seacrest?? idk) To top it off, you can enjoy this all from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Check out these beautiful tables for some decor inspiration for your next dinner party...

What am I doing for NYE this year?? Lovely of you to ask. My husband and I are headed to Austin, TX to chill in some hole-in-the-wall bar.... Yes, I know I just gave you a few great reasons to stay in and have a sophisticated dinner party with your crew. I'm just not that sophisticated. Maybe next year. ;-)

I pray you have a safe and happy New Year and that 2017 brings loads of goodness that 2016 missed.
